The Uptown Counseling Center

Whether you are struggling with an Eating Disorder, Relationship and Intimacy Issues, Depression, Anxiety, or any number of problems, we are here to help. The Uptown Counseling Center provides Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Supervision, Sexual and Intimacy Counseling, along with Medication Management, for individuals and couples dealing with a variety of issues. We have experience working with Children, Adolescents, and Adults, as well as with Couples, Families, and Clinicians. 

We proudly serve the residents of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Tammany Parish including the residents of Uptown, Mid-City, Touro, The Garden District, CBD, Metairie, Mandeville, Covington, Slidell, the entirety of the Northshore, and the students and staff of Tulane University, Loyola, Xavier University, the University of New Orleans, and Delgado College. Eating DisordersAnorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, EDNOS

Eating disorders are serious and often fatal illnesses that cause severe disturbances to a person’s eating behaviors. Eating disorders include Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder.  Obsessions with food, body weight, and shape may signal an eating disorder.

Anxiety DisordersAnxiety and Panic Disorders

Anxiety disorders are persistent conditions in which individuals experience symptoms of excessive fear and anxiety that cause them significant distress and impairment in their ability to function.

Addiction DisordersDrugs, Alcohol or Societal

Individuals who suffer from an Addiction tend to display lower levels of self-control which may reflect impairment in the inhibitory mechanisms of the brain.

Depressive DisordersDepression and Mood Disorders

Symptoms of depressive disorders include: loss of interest or pleasure in nearly all activities, disturbances in sleep and appetite, agitation, decreased energy and fatigue, a sense of worthlessness and guilt, and, in some cases, the presence of suicidal thoughts.
