CONCUSSIONS
A Concussion is a traumatic brain injury that alters the functioning of your brain.(1) Concussions are a common occurrence that are commonly associated with contact sports such as hockey, soccer, and football; however, concussions often occur as a result of a fall or accident that happens in everyday life. Every concussion injures the brain to some extent. Common symptoms of moderate to severe concussive injuries include headaches, mood swings, impaired concentration, impaired memory, and impaired balance and coordination. Some severe concussive injuries include symptoms of disorientation and a loss of consciousness; however, most do not. As a result, you may have incurred a concussion at some time in your life and never realized it.
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, neurological treatment for concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries that has been shown to decrease the core symptoms of concussions and help the brain heal efficiently and effectively.(2)Research supports that neurofeedback reduces the core symptoms of concussions(3) without risk of serious adverse side effects.(4) Studies also report maintained symptom reduction and continued neurological improvement 3, 6, and 24 months after the completion of neuro- feedback treatment for other neurological conditions.(5)
