ANXIETY AND PANIC DISORDER
Anxiety and Panic Disorders are persistent conditions in which individuals experience symptoms of excessive fear and anxiety that cause them significant distress and impairment in their ability to function(1). Anxiety and Panic Disorders often affect an individual for years. Medications prescribed for Anxiety and Panic Disorders commonly have side effects including: slurred speech, poor coordination, nausea, headaches, irritability, insomnia and night awakenings, drowsiness, loss of appetite, blurred vision, dizziness, potential addiction, and in severe cases, muscle rigidity, fever, seizures, and death if not treated(2).
Neurofeedback is a non invasive, neurological treatment for Anxiety and Panic Disorders and its co-occurring conditions (Depression, OCD, Substance use) that promotes growth and change in the brain at the cellular level to help decrease the symptoms of Anxiety and Panic and allow the brain to function more effectively. Research supports the use of neurofeedback to reduce the symptoms of Anxiety and Panic Disorders(3) without risk of serious adverse side effects(4). Studies also report maintained symptom reduction and continued neurological improvement 3, 6, 24, and 30 months after the completion of treatment for conditions treated with neurofeedback(5).
